Growing up in Fort
Worth made it easy for Craig to be around what he loved
most…horses! Now, Craig and his wife, Judy and their
children Amanda and Alex reside in the “cutting horse
capitol of the world” Weatherford, Texas. A community west
of Fort Worth that Craig helped make famous when he was one
of the first trainers to move to the area 10 years ago.
Cutting horses are a family affair for Craig. His father
Jimmy is a trainer, his mother Dixie shows as do both
Craig’s kids and his wife.
Craig began training professionally at the age of 20. He has
had great success in the cutting arena. He has been a
finalist at every major aged event in NCHA. The pinnacle of
his career thus far has been winning the Open Championship
at the 2003 NCHA Futurity aboard One Smart Lookin’ Cat. He
followed that with winning the Championship at the inaugural
Millionheir Cutting, that had a payday of $300,000.00! He
was inducted into the NCHA Hall of Fame in 2004 and has $1.7+
million dollars in earnings.
Most of Craig’s customers have been with him for several
years, which he feels has led to his and their success in
the arena. His customers have been a dominating force in the
Non Pro and Amateur classes.
